Overcoming over 400 applications worldwide, UbiNav has been judged best application in the navigation category in EMEA (Europe, Africa, Middle East) by BlackBerry Partners Fund ™
Treviso, ITALY 11/09/2010 - UbiEst developers have scored another goal! Few days ago BlackBerry Partners Fund ™ announced that UbiNav, UbiEst’s navigation app for BlackBerry, has been selected as Regional EMEA semi-finalist at global competition “Super Apps” Developers Challenge, along with 27 other top applications sorted out of more than 400 entries worldwide.
The Regional Semi-Finalists will each receive a prize package valued at approximately $16,000, including a BlackBerry smartphone and accessory, prominent placement for one week on BlackBerry App World™, an App~Promo package, and more. Participants in this year's challenge are competing for a total prize package valued at over US$1.5 million.
News has been greeted with satisfaction at UbiEst’s headqarters in Treviso, where developers are not new to top scores at prestigious international competitions: as early as 2007 the semi final at "Navteq Global LBS Challenge”, followed by victory in the same competition in 2008 with UbiSafe, which also classified for Forum Nokia Innovation Series " and selected as " Nokia Application of the Week "and finally the final round at " DEMOfall "in San Diego (USA). UbiNav was acknowledged as as "super app" standing out of the immense navigation solutions proposal, because navigation is "presented" to the user as an integrated feature of the smartphone.
UbiNav can be invoked from any of the most used application of BlackBerry smartphones such as address book, calendar, sms, mail, web pages and is able to connect with the major social networks. Wherever in your smartphone you have an address, with a few clicks you can start navigating to it. "We are extremely proud of this achievement," said Nicola De Mattia, CEO of UbiEst SpA, "and now we just have to wait for the announcement of the winner.
Still this placement is an important recognition by one of the main actors in the global mobile phone market, of the technological expertise and innovative spirit of our team within a highly competitive sector. "GPS navigation is now a basic-commodity for personal and professional needs, therefore navigation products must operate in that appendix of our hand that smartphones has become, and should now be able to combine basic directions with many other features. Web connection for automatic updating of maps and real-time content, integration with other common use applications and widely used communication tools such as social networks, are now necessary not only to a niche of highly experienced users, but to a huge area of dynamic users.
